This is the first book in the "Three Roads of Human Nature" trilogy:

When faced with injustice, are you the silent one in the crowd, or the one who steps forward and cries out?

Two childhood playmates took very different paths. One became a university professor of mathematics, while the other became the village's well-known "idiot." Both were highly intelligent, yet their lives ended up worlds apart. Can Zhang Xiaoman, the university professor caught up in a series of nursery-rhyme murder mysteries, cut through the layers of fog, find the mastermind lurking behind it all, and uncover the secret hidden in the blacksmith's rhyme that has haunted his dreams for years...?

The story of the new book, The Sheep That Eats Flesh, is about to begin. Its protagonists are Zhang Xiaoman, the lead of The Silent One's Cry, and Luo Ci, the physics teacher who made a brief appearance in Volume Six. The two will face off in a battle of wits that spans time and space...
