The Holy Son Descends the Mountain, a Thousand Women See Him Off

The day I descended the mountain, nine thousand disciples of the Heavenly Maiden Sect bowed their heads to see me off. At the Ascension Platform, my master Mu Yuexian, hailed as “the Dragon Nation's last deity,” straightened my collar in front of everyone. “Remember, you are now the Heavenly Maiden Sect's Holy Son.” Her fingertips brushed my collarbone, and her voice was so cool it seemed to freeze the sea of clouds. “In our eyes, what are those wealthy and powerful families of the mortal world, if not ants?” My senior sisters cried as they stuffed my pockets with black cards worth enough to buy a whole city. My little junior sister sewed a good-luck charm she'd embroidered over three years into my sword sheath. “I'm entrusting them to you,” Mu Yuexian said at last, her gaze sweeping over the bustling city below the mountain. “Let the world see that the Holy Son of my Heavenly Maiden Sect has returned. It's time for the rules of this world to change.” Nine thousand figures in white stood respectfully with their heads bowed.
