The Song Dynasty’s Top Scholar

Liu An transmigrated. The luckiest transmigrator in history, he was the most handsome third-place graduate in Bianliang, if not the whole realm, and was engaged to the daughter of a prestigious family. But Liu An soon discovered that he wasn’t happy. The weak Song dynasty knelt every day, to the Tanguts, to the Khitans, until all it had left was money. And speaking of money, Liu An was even less happy. He’d heard that Song officials’ salaries were paid directly to their wives, who ran the household and kept the accounts, with their husbands’ pocket money allotted as a fixed expense down to the last coin. He’d also heard that Pan Liu, a young lady from a military family, could beat street thugs with her bare hands. Liu An declared that transmigrating was terrifying.
