Starting a Farm After Hunting in the Mountains

A story set in a bygone era: making money, building a farm, heading into the mountains, hunting, farming, and everyday family life. No posturing or face-slapping, I really don’t know how to write that! If you don’t like it, don’t read it! Please don’t flame me! Thanks!

Wu Hao’s previous life was a complete mess. He never expected to get another chance and return to the banks of the Heilongjiang River in the Greater Khingan Range, Northeast China.

He planned to hunt, farm, build a small farm and raise some cattle and sheep, play with cats and dogs, raid bird nests and catch fish, and look after his parents. He only wanted a carefree life, and to do no worse than the other people his age in the village.

But now, sharper than a monkey, he gets outmaneuvered from the start by the mother of the woman he’s been set up with, and he loses face all over again in both lifetimes.

He’d been a lovesick simp before, and only after pining away did he finally understand: why does the red bean go with longing, while the mung bean goes with the turtle?

Because red beans taste bitter and are mildly poisonous. Mung beans cool the body and dispel heat.

So longing is bitter, while turtle soup is nourishing.
