The Red Chamber Handbook

After Lin Daiyu dies, Zijuan accompanies her coffin back to Suzhou. On the way, a nun from Mount Emei seizes the coffin. Zijuan pleads desperately, but the nun’s words give her a glimmer of hope. Under the nun’s guidance, Lin Daiyu’s frail health improves greatly, and she learns a powerful defensive martial art. After enduring various hardships, she meets the crown prince and earns the princess’s protection, yet still leads a life of constant wandering. Meanwhile, Zijuan organizes women in her hometown to weave brocade. Later, pressure from her competitors brings her close to bankruptcy. When she finally reunites with Daiyu, Zijuan still treats her as her mistress. Daiyu and Zijuan join hands, with the princess’s help, to reclaim the imperial court’s brocade contract. Together, they build their business into something grand. At last, on Daiyu’s birthday, some of the sisters from Dream of the Red Chamber who are still alive are invited to gather! The story also features the emotional entanglement between Daiyu and the crown prince, who later becomes emperor, as well as a battle of wits between Daiyu’s mother, Jia Min, and the Jade Emperor. Dream of the Red Chamber tells of a rise followed by decline, while The Red Chamber Treasury is a legendary tale of decline followed by prosperity.
