Nowhere to Meet Again

One: Gu Nian was a little beast from a remote backwater, born with no one to rely on. The first things she learned in this world were to endure humiliation, cling to life, and fight others. Then a man named Jiang Yun appeared. With a princess on his arm, he approached in measured steps, looking down from on high at her miserable little life, utterly unconcerned. At last, a ray of light crossed her dark world. The little beast finally came to understand human nature and tasted love, the sweetest and most painful feeling in the world. She feared him, submitted to him, schemed against him, and threatened that if he married the princess one day, she would drag him down with her even if she had to step into the gates of death to do it. Two: Her name was An Zhiyi. Her master chose her given name and gave her her surname. Her master said that if a person became attached to an obsession, they would turn demonic and never know happiness. So she wanted her to be content and at peace. Zhiyi would be enough. Growing up hearing this, she became cool and indifferent, caring about nothing for fear of bringing needless trouble and pain upon herself. Even as a child, she knew that things rarely went as planned, so she had never knelt before a Bodhisattva to make a wish. She hoped to live her whole life wanting nothing. Yet, when she grew up, she crossed mountains, seas, and lakes to catch up with someone, pursuing him from the shores of the South Sea to the frigid lands of the north. In the end, she prayed for the Bodhisattva's mercy, wishing that the man had never fallen for her. Even if fate brings us together, we cannot make it last. How much less can we hope to meet when there is nowhere left to meet.
