Twilight Youth

Those bleak days quietly passed, but the sadness in his heart remained. He had no more time to recover from his wounds. As the sun rose and the moon set, he took his bleeding soul to another unfamiliar place and began a dreamlike stretch of youth. Scene after scene, years flew by, and maple leaves fell. Chance encounters, painful memories, new beginnings, new descents. In the blink of an eye, time stood still. You and I already had faces covered in stubble, while they had blossomed into beautiful women. Before long, we had all gone our separate ways, but we never forgot those years beneath the gray skies.

When the food was hard to swallow, we wolfed it down together. When the road was rough, we trudged along together. That's how youth was: a silent stream, years that could never keep us apart, bearing witness to our memories of red leaves drifting through the air.
