In the thirty-first year of Hongwu (1398), the renowned Hongwu Emperor of Chinese history, Zhu Yuanzhang, passed away. Worried that the dynasty he had founded might not last forever, his soul refused to ascend to heaven. Instead, it drifted above the land of China, witnessing with his own eyes the entire course of the Ming dynasty: its founding, its prosperity, its decline, and its eventual destruction by the Qing...

Zhu Yuanzhang was heartbroken! He wanted to save the Ming dynasty he had built with his own hands, but there was nothing he could do. All he could do was continue drifting in the sky... and remain a spectator to history.

He witnessed the Qing dynasty rise and fall. He saw the new forms of warfare: great ships, giant cannons, airplanes, and aircraft carriers. He saw new nations founded and a new world order take shape... computers, technology... limitless possibilities!

Just as his soul was about to fade away, Heaven suddenly let him be reborn into the chaos at the end of the Ming dynasty, once again becoming Zhu Chongba, a penniless cowherd boy.
