Picking Up a Wife

The front part is quite good and makes people want to read more. Then I ordered the full book because there were not many chapters. It drags a little bit later on, and for many chapters you can guess the ending just by looking at the beginning. The finale was rather rushed, and the extras were confusing.

The first part was okay, but when it came to the male protagonist, it fell apart. The male protagonist is a coward and incompetent loser. He was bullied by the Wu family and the Lin family. He was cowardly and refused to fight back, but forced the female protagonist, an orphan, to marry him. He knew that his own mother hated the heroine, but he still insisted on marrying the heroine, causing her to be rubbed down. In the conflict between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law, she would only act as a peacemaker, and could neither protect her wife nor be filial to her mother. The male protagonist's mother is even better. She dislikes poverty and loves the rich and takes revenge to the extreme. She enjoys the benefits brought by the female protagonist, but looks down on and makes things difficult for the female protagonist at all times. Once she becomes rich, she will immediately abandon her useless wife. I really don't know why the author wrote such a great male protagonist and his mother.
