The Chronicle of the Phoenix's Cry

Many people have told me I'm not suited to writing fantasy. They say my wording and phrasing would sound awkward, and that I should write historical fiction or xianxia instead! But I really want to write a fantasy novel. I remember first encountering this kind of novel in 2004. I was immediately captivated by the dazzling magic and mighty battle aura in its pages. Then came Mercenaries of the World, Lan of the Naked Land, Zichuan... and many others. By now, this genre has been written to death, and all sorts of strange cultivation systems have appeared. They may grab people's attention, but they're really just the same old thing in a new package. To me, the traditional setting of magic and battle aura still has the most charm.

I don't have some grand purpose in writing this book, and I'm not a professional writer. I just want to write. I want to give some meaning to these past few years I've spent immersed in books. After reading for so many years, I ought to leave something of my own behind! Time constraints may have left a few minor flaws in the story, but I'll fix them later. I, Laoshu, promise that I'm approaching this book with the right attitude. I just want to look back fondly on these innocent years that have slipped away!

I won't write a special introduction. Just read the book!
