Fate of the Kindling

Jiang Yan found an old copper coin. Eight words were inscribed on it: Life is currency; time is interest.

Burn one year of your lifespan to gain one level of cultivation.

Others cultivate immortality with spiritual roots. He does it by burning through his life.

The stone in the servants' quarters said, "Yan, you really cherish your life."

Jiang Yan smiled and nodded. "I do. More than anyone."

But he burned three years, then another three.

Some called him crazy. Jiang Yan looked at the number on the coin and said, "I'm not crazy. I'm doing the math."

This time, he would calculate his life back, one fraction at a time.
