Death Game: I Can Read Soulstone Legacies

Die once, lose a fragment of your memory.

Die three times, become a soulstone, and get socketed into someone's weapon.

While other people enter Nine Realms to grind monsters and level up, Shen Guanfu comes looking for his missing brother.

In the mine, the foreman grinds a soulstone formed from a miner who died three times into the mud. "A worthless Tier Zero stone. Gives +1 Constitution. Not even worth socketing; it would just get in the way."

Shen Guanfu picks up the gray stone.

The Record of Ten Thousand Souls opens: after forty-two years digging in the mountains, this miner had a hidden gift, [Faultsense]. There was no metal or stone in the world whose cracks he couldn't detect.

An iron spike pries open a wrist shackle.

A worthless stone pries open an entire mine.

Later, Shen Guanfu discovers that every ledger recording the harvesting of soulstones ultimately bears his brother's wax seal.

His brother sits at the end of a production line that devours people, waiting for Shen Guanfu to come and flip the table.
