Abundance Falls at Dusk

On Mount Qingyun in Qingzhou, Shen Yan is a good-for-nothing with no spiritual roots, mocked by everyone in the outer sect. For three years, spiritual energy has been unable to approach his meridians, and his path of cultivation seems sealed shut. Yet deep within his sea of consciousness, the Scripture of the Ten Thousand Martial Dao Embryos lies silently dormant beneath its shackles.

A sparring match at the training grounds shatters everyone's preconceptions. While others cultivate spiritual energy, he cultivates the martial path. In the simplest punches and kicks, he grasps the mysteries of force, and with his mortal body, repels cultivators of the Spirit Realm. His performance at the monthly assessment shocks the world, earning him the honor of first place. Yet he turns down an invitation to join the inner sect, shoulders his pack, and descends the mountain to enter the mortal world of the Five Regions.

The martial world below is in turmoil, with good and evil intertwined, and opportunity and danger everywhere. One night beneath the willows in Cloudcool City, he has a chance encounter with Su Wanqing of the Sunny Moon Immortal Sect, and the threads of fate quietly begin to entwine them. An ancient Taotie egg travels alongside him, gluttonous and naive, yet concealing power that has endured for countless ages.

The path to immortality is hemmed in by spiritual-root barriers, but the martial path has no bounds between heaven and earth. While others pursue spiritual energy and immortal arts, Shen Yan follows the guidance of ancient scriptures, gradually breaking the shackles sealed upon him for countless ages. Beyond the Great Dao pursued by cultivators across the heavens, he forges an unparalleled path to the peak of the martial way.
