Sparks in the Ashes

Nine hundred years into the Burning Era, the ashlands are a lifeless sky. The cataclysm that burned the heavens a thousand years ago reduced the old world to wasteland beneath an ashen vault. The Twelve Walled Cities were built around the remains of gods, and bloodline rank determines social class: the upper three ranks are worshiped by thousands, while the rankless aren't even worthy of a surname. Lu Jin, eldest legitimate son of the Lu clan. On the night of his awakening, the blood mirror shattered and declared him rankless. His blood had no source, and the city would not accept him. The night he was cast out, he fought his way through the ash mist and kindled the first ember. It was the source blood of the progenitor of the apocalypse. It could consume all blood, but would also burn away the life of whoever bore it. The gray tide came ten years early, and the myths of the Walled Cities began to crack: the god remains worshiped by the people were coffins imprisoning the bringer of the apocalypse, and whatever lay inside was waking up. The Ashen Domain has seven layers, with the old world buried beneath the ash. Otherworldly ruins, the Ashen Remnant Guard, and phantom cities reveal, layer by layer, a thousand-year deception. Bearing a bone talisman and wielding an ember blade, Lu Jin fights his way from discarded scion to Source Lord. He devours blood without falling to demonic corruption, and protects one person in order to protect all living beings. He has only one question to answer: will he become ash, or remain human? What rises from the ashes has always been a spark.
