Guarding the Light by the River

With a letter from Old Master Su in hand, Lu Chenyuan arrives in Linjiang and becomes the bodyguard of the Su family's eldest daughter, Su Qingwan. Dressed like a handyman and carrying a woven-plastic sack, he is mistaken by the entire company for someone who got the job through connections. During a mall robbery, he takes down two knife-wielding criminals in five seconds, then chuckles and says he "picked up a few moves in the army." No one knows that a "System" left behind by his father is implanted in his skull. No one knows, either, that five years ago, six members of his border squad died, and he was the only one to return alive. At a family banquet, he exposes the poisoned wine with a single remark. At a treacherous feast, he folds a one-billion-yuan check into a paper airplane. When Zhou Jianguo of the capital's elite circles and the foreign "Black Sun" both emerge from the shadows, the soldier king who has been playing dumb finally reveals his hand. The old master's letter contained just eight words: "Help me look after my granddaughter."
