Heaven Can Be Measured

Heaven can be measured, earth can be surveyed, but the human heart can never be guarded against.

In this world, some rely on their birth, while others write flattering memorials and curry favor.

Chen Weisheng relies on one thing. Every word you've ever said, every account you've ever kept, I remember them all.

One day, you'll have to explain every last one of them in front of everyone.

For ten years, a green lamp has shone upon my humble study,

I have read through countless books, yet my ambitions remain unfulfilled.

My writings at the spring examinations made my name resound at court,

My policy proposals before the vermilion steps soared with lofty spirit.

Stepping through the gates of the wealthy, I entered a thousand-layered snare,

After countless battles, I have made my way through the sea of officialdom.

Don't mock a scholar for lacking a weapon,

For achievements are the blade that cuts through the books of power.
