The Flowers Bloomed Again That Year

When Lin Huakai, a freshman in the Chinese department at Jiangzhou University, arrives to register, a mix-up leads her to mistake Lu Mingyuan, a boy from her own department, for a teacher. From the awkwardness of their first meeting in freshman year to a confession through the sound of a guitar at the Top Ten Singers showcase, their youthful love quietly takes root. Four years of club activities, finals cramming, late-night gaming, and handwritten love letters hold the purest first stirrings of young love. Senior student Cheng Yichen watches over them from afar, while several couples around them make their way through life together. Some chase their futures; others drift apart with regrets. A winter-break misunderstanding sparks jealousy, an internship in different cities tests their relationship, and as graduation approaches, the trials of reality and family circumstances arrive one after another. Lu Mingyuan's promise, "I'll take care of you from now on," preserves their passionate promise of youth in a Jiangzhou summer. The flowers bloomed that year, and bloom again each year.
