The Wicked Yin Manual: The Little Nemesis and the Big Goose

[A First Try at Chinese Folk Horror: Not Only Is It Not Scary, It's So Silly You Can't Help Laughing] My name is Li San'er. There's an extra birthmark behind the base of my left ear. The only family I have left is my alcoholic grandfather, who has schizophrenia. I grew up in an ancient town, eating at the tables of kind neighbors. In my past life, I accidentally drowned myself, and the news reported that I'd taken my own life.

Reborn, I figured I'd go back to my hometown and lie low. But on my wedding night, a goose demon posing as my fiancée swallowed me whole.

When I got out, my handsome young face was gone, leaving me with the body of a seventy-year-old. Want my original body back? Fine. I just have to accumulate yin virtue.

So I set off with the Five Tyrants of the Countryside, overturning altars and razing temples along the way. My fiancée, who should have been dressed in robes as white as snow, now has a plump body covered in white goose feathers. Every day, she pounds the table with her wings and spits toward the Heavenly Gate: "Quit feeding me this bullshit! In my last life, a heartless boss exploited me for free. And now you want me to be your free-range piglet?" "You lot, get the pot ready! Stoke the fire! Today we're cooking a god and seeing how it tastes!"
