County Magistrate by Day, City God by Night: Master of Life and Death, Judge of Yin and Yang

After transmigrating, Zhao Dong spent three years as a lowly county magistrate.

Then the Merit Ledger awakened, and he finally accumulated a hundred merits, enough to exchange for the legendary position of City God of Qingchuan County.

From then on, he was a seventh-rank magistrate in the mortal realm and held sway over the life and death of an entire city in the underworld.

A nobleman's son abducts a young woman to force her into marriage, beats her husband to death, and a litigator rages in court?

The underworld's bailiffs bring the wrongly slain victim before the court to identify the real culprit.

Seal the Yuhe Workshop. Put the Sun family's shop on Yongning Lane under seal. Reopen the old case of Moonflower Pavilion. Uncover the disappearance of Yu Niang twelve years ago...

The century-old clans of Qingchuan County see their foundations shaken.

But this is only the beginning.

The Cao family has been investigated. Now investigate Qingchuan's seven great clans...

Zhao Dong's rank keeps rising.

From a seventh-rank county magistrate to the City God of an entire city, from Qingchuan County to Qingzhou Prefecture.

The cases he tries grow ever more numerous: corpse theft, soul refining, body possession, the extermination of an immortal sect, old cases from the dynasty...

His subordinates grow in number as well:

Night Wanderers, Day Patrol Officers, Civil Judges, Martial Judges, underworld bailiffs, treasury clerks...

From the underworld office of one county, to one prefecture, and then to an entire province.

Until one day, Zhao Dong shatters the Nine Heavens.

The Heavenly Court has collapsed for ten thousand years, the underworld has fallen into ruin, and the divine path is severed.

The people beseech Heaven, but Heaven gives no answer.

Seated high upon the bench, Zhao Dong slams his block down:

"I'll smash this rotten old Heavenly Court and establish a new one!"

In an instant, both the living and the dead answer as one.
