The Ledger of Good and Evil

Lin Shi'an, manager of the Yunji Sect's outer sect medicine talisman storehouse, took over three months ago. The accounts are short by forty-seven medicine talismans.

The Sect Rules Hall has come to investigate, and both the inner and outer sects need someone to take the blame. That someone is him.

He has no spiritual roots and no combat ability. All he has is a ledger in his sea of consciousness, one that lets him see the debts people owe one another. The price is that every time he turns a page, a part of him burns away: first, ringing ears; then insomnia; and finally, memories he can never recall again.

He doesn't use it to grow stronger. He uses it to know whom to question.
