The Call of Yuan Chen

People only know that funeral makeup artists put makeup on the dead. Few know the three old sayings passed down in this line of work: If a corpse won't close its eyes, it still has something left unsaid. If the funeral hall has no lights, the way forward hasn't been illuminated. If the compass won't speak, the accounts haven't been settled. Song Lin spent three years guarding the morgue at a funeral home. Then one night, a man who had died with his eyes open suddenly sat up and cried, "Sir, save me." Song Lin lowered his eyes to the compass his grandfather had left him. Its needle was pointing straight at his heart. The compass is silent, but the living world has debts to settle. He will have to repay them, one by one, with his own hands.
