The Sunward

More than two thousand years ago, after years of war on Earth and the depletion of its resources, some survivors left the planet and made their home in orbital habitats. Over generations, their population grew and their habitats expanded. What had once been a refuge became Qiri, a vast space city with a population of a million.

The resources that sustain the city are scattered across distant star regions. Search ships travel through the folds connecting the stars, carrying mechs and explorers to unfamiliar worlds. There are mineral deposits waiting to be mined, and fearsome beasts capable of tearing through composite armor. The opening or closure of a single route affects countless lives, while how the resources brought back are distributed determines the balance of interest and power aboard the massive ship.

The young navigator Lin Jianwei ventures beyond the star charts with Lu Jingheng's search team. As they delve deeper into the sea of stars, they seek resources and open new routes, entrusting their way home to their companions in the struggle between life and death.

Their trails will extend into even more distant star regions. And back in Qiri, there will always be someone who remembers the day they set out and waits for them to return home safely.
