Ashes of the Time Stream

Day and night pass as usual in this city, while countless young people disappear into the clamor of the crowds.

The world has never been as peaceful as it seems. Hidden temporal rifts are scattered throughout the human world, and a tiny number of youths are marked by fate and awaken temporal talents. The Temporal Affairs Bureau takes them in and trains them under a rigid hierarchy. In silence, they protect the order of time in the human world.

Talent is never a gift. It is a curse that demands an equivalent exchange. Peering into the past strips away memories; projecting the future drains away one's vitality. Every use of their power comes at the cost of their sense of self, their emotions, and their passion.

The worlds of light and darkness begin to overlap, and turbulent currents surge beneath the calm surface of school life. Lu Yanzhou is forced into the struggle over time, where he meets a group of peers covered in scars, each clinging to their own convictions. They walk side by side and redeem one another, yet their beliefs clash and they pull each other in opposite directions. Tender young feelings quietly take root, soon followed by misunderstandings and partings.

The foremost timekeepers, once guardians of order, see through the hopelessness of fate and realize their regrets were inevitable. Turning their backs on their homeland, they found the Shattered Light Court. Refusing to let time dictate their lives, they are determined to tear apart the path laid out before them and make enemies of the old world.

The youths can glimpse the joys and sorrows buried deep within everyone. They can redeem strangers from their regrets, yet they cannot mend their own broken lives. The clearer they see, the more they lose; the heavier their burdens, the lonelier they become. As the wheels of fate thunder into motion, the youths chosen by time will finally complete this regret-filled pilgrimage through their youth amid the raging torrent of destiny.

And Lin Yu is one of those swept into the torrent.
