The Bright Moon Shines Upon the Realm

An alternate ancient dynasty. A style inspired by unofficial histories. Political intrigue as the outward trappings, romance at its heart.

I wanted to title this The Moon Shines on Me, but the title was already taken, so I had to add a few words. This is not a cultivation novel. Romance and political intrigue take center stage.

Volume One: The Moon Shines on the Road Ahead

A slow-paced, serious historical drama set in an imaginary dynasty. The early chapters plant many seeds and lay out the political landscape and the characters' backgrounds and relationships. Two upright officials who consider each other kindred spirits gradually rise to high office. Then, caught up in the political tide, they are pushed to opposing sides. After the court is transformed beyond recognition, each ultimately meets a different fate.

Volume Two: The Moon Shines on True Love

A new political landscape and a new chapter unfold. A prince who once believed that, born into the imperial family, he was simply at the mercy of fate turns out to have been a pawn controlled by a powerful minister, carefully maneuvered onto the throne. To prove to the person he loves that he did nothing wrong, to win their heart, and for the people of the realm, he uses time and action to prove, step by step, that his place on the throne is ordained by Heaven and supported by the people.

Volume Three: The Moon Shines on the Realm

The open and covert struggles between emperor and powerful minister, their compromises and mutual exploitation, and the emperor and empress supporting and protecting one another. The cruelest truths are told in the warmest way. The finest emperor and empress illuminate the most wonderful dynasty.
