Marvel: I'm Afraid of Dying, Yet I Awaken Lightning Powers

In 2008, Tony Stark announced to the world:

"I am Iron Man."

It was also from that day on that Lin Chuan finally became certain of one thing.

This world seemed far more dangerous than he'd imagined.

And worse still...

He was starting to become abnormal, too.

He could sense electricity.

He could absorb it.

He could make arcs of electricity leap from his fingertips.

And as his abilities continued to grow, he began to reach into the true realm of electromagnetism. When other people gained superpowers, their first thought was to become heroes.

Lin Chuan's first thought was:

"Could this power electrocute me?"

He was afraid of dying.

Very afraid.

So before every move, he made sure he had a way out. If he couldn't win, he'd retreat. He'd always strike from the shadows rather than fight head-on, and he would never let his blood run hot against an enemy clearly beyond his abilities. But for all that, he still couldn't stand by and watch others die.

So when Iron Man streaked across the skies above New York, when Thor first came to Earth, when an alien army tore open the skies over New York...

The young man who had always wanted nothing more than to live in peace still stepped forward, again and again.

From a tiny spark in Queens to thunder sweeping across the battlefield.

Years later, when someone asked him why he always showed up at the most dangerous moments, Lin Chuan fell silent for a moment.

"Because I want to run, too.

"But someone's got to get the ordinary people out first."

This is the story of an ordinary young man with no foresight, no memories of the plot, and no System cheat.

In the Heroic Age, he takes one step at a time and carves out a path of his own.
