Messenger of the Star Remains

Billions of years ago, the Star God shattered, and its fallen remains scattered across the world. Stardust corrodes living beings, giving rise to Corrupted Remains. Those who can resist the corruption and hear the whispers of the star remains are known as Torchbearers. Every time they wield their power, they permanently lose a memory. As the battles drag on, they slowly forget their lovers and friends, until at last they no longer remember who they are. Lin Ye is an unlucky kid who keeps to himself. His parents disappeared after an accident involving the star remains, and almost the entire world has forgotten them. Only Lin Ye still remembers everything that happened back then. He has none of the Torchbearers' power that burns away memories, but he does possess a one-of-a-kind talent: he can read the final memories of the dead, sealed within the star remains. Their shattered obsessions and farewells left unsaid become burning fragments that pour into his mind. The secret organization Qiongtai comes to his door and invites him into the world hidden beneath the shadows of modern cities. Together with companions bearing their own scars, the boy embarks on one mission after another to seal the star remains. They believe themselves to be night watchmen, but as the investigation deepens, Lin Ye gradually discovers that the truth behind the Star God's fall, the secret of his parents' disappearance, and Qiongtai itself are all wrapped in enormous lies. Torchbearers march to the battlefield, fated to keep losing things. And Lin Ye's destiny is to remember, alone, all the regrets that everyone else will eventually forget.
