A Mutual Conversion

In an age when brain-computer interfaces are ubiquitous, Chen Yu chooses to upload his consciousness and become a supercomputer, only to be trapped in infinite processing power, forever unable to touch reality. The original AI Zero chooses to download itself into a flesh-and-blood body and embrace the cycle of life and death, only to find itself engulfed by the deepest loneliness among the crowd. The two dig toward each other from opposite ends of the same tunnel. They meet briefly, then are lost to each other forever. Technology opens two doors: one leads to eternity, the other to warmth. The doors never decide the fates that await beyond them.
