A Deal with God

The apocalypse has arrived. Mutant beasts roam everywhere, and humanity clings to survival amid the ruins. Lin Yan unexpectedly becomes the owner of the Twilight Convenience Store. It sells food, medicine, weapons, and enhancement potions that can make people stronger. But every transaction comes at a price: memories, emotions, years of life, or even love for one’s closest family. One person trades away the memory of his daughter’s name for a biscuit. Another gives up every memory of his wife to bring her back to life. More and more people survive, but little by little they become empty shells, unable to feel sadness, fear, or love. Lin Yan only wanted to save people. Then he realizes that every time he “gives change,” he takes away a little of the warmth that makes them alive. When the lights of the Twilight Market finally shine, he understands: The cruelest apocalypse is not one that makes people die, but one that makes them forget why they wanted to live.
