I Became a Secret-Arts Monk in Tokyo

This is a nation on the brink of collapse, with a sick and oppressive society, a host of bizarre unsolved cases, crime rates growing exponentially, and collective hysteria. Monsters born of filth and karmic afflictions infest the world. At a deeper level, a cruel doctrine holds that "anyone who is not of the Eight Surnames is not human," dividing people by family rank and bloodline into higher and lower status. In this age of fivefold corruption, Asano Yu comes into the world by vow, bearing the Great Awesome Virtue Dharma, known as the "King of Action and Lord of Wrath." It counteracts the Three Poisons, saves sentient beings, and clears away karma and obstacles. He becomes an emanation of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, protecting all beings. Using the skillful means of esoteric Buddhist teachings, he establishes Tokyo's most prestigious temple, subduing and binding all manner of monsters and turning them into protectors and dakinis. Years later, he stands atop Takamagahara, bearing countless identities: the Transcendent, the God of Calamity, the Heavenly Sage, the Omniscient Dragon… But the name by which people praise him most is: Yama, Lord of Death and Emperor!
