The Dao Reaches the Heavens

The heavens are vast, and countless arts contend in splendor. Since time immemorial, most seekers of immortality have relied on peerless spiritual roots, pursued heaven-sent opportunities, and sought to draw fortune to their side. Lin Chen, however, has none of that. Disaster runs rampant in Qingxi Town in the Xuanhuang Realm. His home is destroyed, and left alone and helpless, he joins the Qingyang Sect. His only gift is a mixed spiritual root of water, earth, and wood, so everyone in the sect regards him as useless. Scorn, mockery, withheld resources, and relentless bullying become the norm on his path of cultivation. With such inferior spiritual roots, every step forward is arduous. Each tiny increase in cultivation requires endless, monotonous breathing exercises and risking his life for meager opportunities. He has no treasures to protect him and no expert to guide him. The great talents of his generation compete to pursue the quick path to the Dao, dazzling the world for a time, only to fall to tribulations or become trapped at a bottleneck. Lin Chen alone holds fast to his plain and sincere nature, enduring loneliness and humiliation as he tempers his Dao foundation through hardship. From the most humble beginnings in body tempering, he advances step by step through Foundation Establishment and Golden Core, all the way to the Great Ascension stage in the mortal realm. He braves the nine heavens' lightning tribulation, tears through the realm barriers, and ascends into the vast Myriad Worlds. He relies neither on world-shaking talent nor on crooked shortcuts. With an ordinary mortal body, he cultivates the simple Great Dao, trudging onward one step at a time toward the heavens.
