Sun, Moon, Day and Night

In the late winter of 1792, by the Neva River, a fourteen-year-old German princess made a wish to the moon, making me the Empress of Russia. The moon answered her: exchange it for your first child. She agreed. Six years later, she gave birth to a girl with silver hair and silver eyes, and her skin was as pale as the moonlight. The price of this wish has since fallen on the child. The girl became deaf at the age of six and grew up in the shadow of the Winter Palace. She did not know that her birth was a deal, and she did not know what the moon had already taken away and what it would take away again. Many years later, a young man with blond hair and yellow eyes would meet her at a ball in the Winter Palace. One of them is named Sol and the other is Luna. Sun and moon. They thought they could escape, but the conditions set by the moon on that late winter night never allowed anyone to escape. This is a story about two generations, about a transaction, about a mother's wish and how her daughter repays it. In the end, they will fly into the sky together and become the sun and the moon.
