Taming Beasts of the Classic of Mountains and Seas: I Can See the Version Updates

On the launch day of Shanhai, a virtual game built around raising pets and battling with them,

Li Yu’s gaming headset short-circuits, and he transmigrates into the world of Shanhai as a boy with the same name.

His father is bedridden, his little sister is too young to understand much, and the family is so poor they’re about to run out of food.

Luckily, in addition to the game interface, he can also see the update notices released by the System.

Every notice clearly lists how many new spirit pets each version adds and which new evolution paths become available.

Years later, when countless beast tamers question him, Li Yu declares indignantly:

“What’s illegal about my spirit pets? You can’t accuse me of cheating just because you’ve never seen them before!”

“So what if I have lots of divine beasts? I raised them all myself! Why do you say I only know how to cling to the coattails of divine beasts!?”

Also known as: “After Evolving, My Spirit Pets’ Stats Are Just a Little Too High” and “I Lied: The Mechanics Are Actually Hellishly Unfair Too”
