Watchers of the East Sea

In the near-future East China Sea, undercurrents stir. Xu Zhengnan, a major and leader of Assault Team Three in the Longyuan Special Operations Brigade, is stern on the outside and warm at heart. He habitually puts himself in front of everyone else, yet keeps his own heart locked away in the depths. Zeng Zihan, a captain and tactical medic in the same brigade, is an extroverted introvert and a master's graduate in surgery from Peking Union Medical College Hospital. A genetic weapon called “Tide Song,” the deep-sea platform “Kunpeng Seven,” and the leader “Sperm Whale,” who has an old grudge against Xu Zhengnan... A storm is quietly gathering. When the deepest darkness descends, Xu Zhengnan uses his body to shield her from a fatal blow, keeping his promise: “If the sky falls, let it hit me first.” And the girl who once panicked at the thought of even getting in the water rises where he falls, transforming from someone who “pretended to be brave” into someone truly brave.
