Its people understood the great ways of the stars and built four Star God mainframes and four Star Lord mainframes, founded on the twelve signs of the zodiac and the twenty-eight lunar mansions. Twelve Grand Sagras commanded the primal forces of fire, wind, earth, and water. Twenty-eight Star Lords guarded the four cardinal directions, while the Divine Emperor Ziwei commanded the great celestial array. Two colossal guardians, Yunlong and Steel Gantras, lay dormant deep beneath the earth. In that age, the stars followed their proper courses, the world's barriers stood firm, and civilization flourished. The power of the star path drew the attention of beings from beyond the stars. But an alien civilization and the Void Calamity known as Shiyao arrived at the same time, unleashing twin catastrophes upon the star-worshipping civilization. War engulfed the land and the sea of stars. Cities were reduced to ashes, and the final battle ended in devastation. Mountains and rivers lay shattered, the power of the stars was sealed away, and the celestial mainframes and colossal guardians sank into underground ruins. To preserve the flame of the star path, the twelve Grand Sagras and twenty-eight Star Lords sealed away their memories and fell into the cycle of reincarnation. The Divine Emperor Ziwei's armor shattered and his authority was sealed; he, too, was reborn. Shiyao was permanently imprisoned beyond the Void by the combined might of the stars, but it did not perish completely. It lurked behind the rift, waiting for the day it would be freed. A billion years passed, and the world changed beyond recognition. Time buried the ancient epic of the stars, leaving only fragments of lost texts to become legend. In the twenty-first century, all twelve Grand Sagras and twenty-eight Star Lords have been reborn as ordinary people, scattered across the world and living unremarkable lives, unaware of the burden their blood and souls carry: the duty to protect the world. Then, one day, a cracking sound came from beyond the Void, and Shiyao's shadow began to spread once more. When the stars whisper again, the sleeping power will finally awaken.
