I Come from Hell's Gate

The Hellgate Sect is an ancient school rooted in folk superstitions and occult customs. Its members are masters of forbidden folk arts passed down for millennia: warding off evil at funerals, using talismans to suppress demons, countering curses, guiding souls and sending off the dead, and binding spirits and sealing ghosts. They also know lost arts such as choosing auspicious burial sites, using gu poison to drive away evil, and performing ancient shamanic rites. The sect's disciples walk the boundary between yin and yang, encountering all kinds of underworld trades: corpse drivers, spirit matchmakers, mountain watchers, paper effigy makers, fortune-tellers, tomb keepers, and ghost eaters. Each trade holds its own secret techniques and is entangled in its own grudges and feuds. As a successor of the Hellgate Sect, Lu Yun bears its legacy. He must fight off the invasion of the myriad races and thwart the plots and disasters stirred up by foreign peoples, while also navigating suspicion, scheming, and bloodshed within the human race. Amid a whirlpool of eerie folk taboos, underworld trades, conflicts among the myriad races, and infighting among humans, he must uphold his sect's teachings, distinguish right from wrong, and carve out a path to survival in an age of turmoil between yin and yang.
