Deep-Space Mech Relics

Mechs, interstellar travel, Cthulhu, exploration, and growth. Chen Yan dreams of saving up for a mech of his own and joining the mothership to see the stars. Then, while dismantling an old mech, he hears a voice from inside: “Don't reconnect it.” Before he can find where the voice came from, the hoist-mounted mech beside him powers on by itself. From its empty cockpit comes his master's voice, calling for him to open the door. That night, Chen Yan becomes the old mech's eighteenth pilot and discovers he can read the piloting experiences left behind by those who came before. He uses these echoes to repair scrap mechs and hone his combat skills, eventually earning a place aboard an exploration mothership bound for deep space. Missing starships, abandoned docks, immense ruins left behind by ancient civilizations... The things those pilots saw in their final moments begin appearing along his route, one by one. But in the deepest memory of all, he sees a mothership being slowly lifted by the “dock” where it is berthed. Five towers close in one after another, like fingers.
