The Code of Judgment

On the last night before his execution by fire, Lorne, a sinner forbidden from cultivating, finds a torn page from a golden codex. The codex has seven pages: the Judgment Page recognizes bloodlines, the Memory Page recognizes "those you can't forget," the Cause and Effect Page recognizes "those you owe," and the Contract Page recognizes "those bold enough to owe you." Each page recognizes only those willing to face themselves. The price is the Law: every use costs him a memory, an emotion, or an inch of his lifespan. He uses the codex to judge the Divine Court, sentence kings, and end a thousand-year war between gods and demons. He lays down laws for the devourers, for the worlds, and for all under heaven. In the end, the only one left to judge is himself. The world asks him: "Executioner, what crime do you find yourself guilty of?" He says: "Acquitted. Now let me go home and plant trees."
