Matte in the Gray Zone

The war left a gray stain on the land that could never be washed away. People in the new city eat food made from natural ingredients; those in the old city survive on synthetic nutrient paste. Ethan is an orphan from the old city. Thanks to a benefactor, he finds a job at a logistics company, traveling between the new and old cities. He secretly falls in love with Elena, the owner of a restaurant in the new city, and now and then gets to taste food made from natural ingredients there. It is the only light in his gloomy life. He thought that the pristine dome was paradise. Only after someone he trusted most sent him straight to hell did he discover that paradise was crawling with maggots, too.
