The Left Eye: All That It Sees

A medical consultation in the capital prompted me to trace my family roots. Memories flooded back across the years: the unease that haunted me in the clinic as a child, and a lifetime spent avoiding the curious looks of others. I have loved and lost, weathered the ups and downs of starting a business, and found comfort in the small warmth of family life. During my search, I happened upon an old photo album. A few faded portraits lay inside: my grandfather, my father, my mother. Several generations were captured in black and white, their bloodline concealing a riddle of fate. Following the photographs, I looked back on the paths of three generations. Amid a lifetime of struggle, I began, little by little, to understand the answer fate had left me.
