This long-form eastern fantasy web novel draws on the sixty-four hexagrams of the Book of Changes to build its cultivation system. It tells the story of a man "without a fate," and how he comes to live as a hexagram. In the vast realm of three hundred and eighty-four lines, the smallest and most remote is the Weiji Line Realm. Its skies are often ashen yellow, its spiritual energy thin, like a flame on the verge of going out. Shen Yao was born into a collateral branch of the Shen clan, the realm's ruling family, and spent seven years sweeping floors. At the age of fifteen, during the Fate-Reading Ceremony, the divination plate spun sixty-four times, yet he could not condense even a single line. He had never been part of the fate ordained by this world, so he was struck from the family register and became a person "without a fate." But a grass seed appeared in his palm, strangely warm. An old blind man on a street corner felt his palm and said, "It's not that you failed. You simply refuse to accept any hexagram." Beyond the heavens, the Bell of Final Change had already rung for the three hundred and seventy-ninth time. Five rings remained. After the fifth, heaven and earth would enter Final Change. A man without even a hexagram dares to defy the rules of the three hundred and eighty-four-line realm and build within himself a hexagram unlike any that has ever existed.
