The old folks always warn of three taboos: Never look back on a night road, never spend the night in a ruined temple, and never place a mirror facing the bed. That year, I entered the Xu family graveyard on a bet and fell into an underground corpse-raising cavern. There I found a book called The Yin-Yang Ledger, and my right eye became a Blood Corpse Eye, able to see evil spirits. From then on, my world changed beyond recognition: a coffin of the wronged dead that eight strong men couldn't lift on the seventh night after death; a three-bowl wager beneath an old yellow-fruit tree to gamble for souls; the Yang family's feng shui; Lu Ban's arts; ghost soldiers passing through; spirit mediums in the northeast... One strange occurrence after another came my way. I promised the wronged spirit of a man who died in a coal mine that I would clear his name within three years. People say that if you make a pact with the dead and walk between yin and yang, the ghosts will drag you away sooner or later. But I had no way back long ago.
