The Reflection Apocalypse

Dio Grave is a ferryman in Gray Harbor. Every day, he stands before the Ferrying Mirror and sends the remnants of the dead into the Mirror World. He has taken in so many that he’s almost forgotten who he is. Then Willow Hart suddenly appeared in the mirror. Dio’s old acquaintance had left with a smile three years ago, and now he had returned from the other side of the glass. He handed Dio a death record. The name was right, but the cause of death was a lie. Dio investigated and discovered that seven people had died in the docks district, and someone had pulled all their remnants out of the mirror. That someone was Willow. Reflected Relationships: the Mirror World doesn’t reflect people, but relationships. In the real world, Dio and Willow had long since become enemies, but the Mirror World recorded them as the closest of companions. Willow was altering the Mirror World’s memories, trying to make the version where “they were together” spill into reality and rewrite everyone’s perception. Dio found him. The two spoke through the mirror, one in the real world and one in the Mirror World. Willow smiled, his pocket watch ticking in his hand. He said he’d run the numbers: a seventy percent chance of success. Dio said he was insane. In the end, Willow took a step back and sealed the door himself. He left smiling, not because he was forced to, but because he chose to. After that day, Oz stood up from the steps. Dan sat by the docks and began talking to people about other people’s stories. Dio returned to the Ferrying Mirror and went back to work. The fog over Gray Harbor never lifted. But someone was gone, and someone was still there.
