Of the 365 gods appointed to the Celestial Court, 247 were from the Jie School. Countless Jie School disciples had also died in the War of Investiture. In the name of preserving the orthodox Daoist tradition, the Dao Ancestor showed favoritism to Yuanshi and Taishang Laojun.
