Walking the Mortal World as a God

(Wits and strategy) + (Supernatural resurgence) + (Instances) + (Mild horror) People have always prayed to, yearned for, dreamed of, mourned, and cursed the gods, hoping they might find happiness. The gods answered. Only when they walked among us did people realize: the gods were like ghosts, and the human world was like a prison. Would people give up? How could they? They gathered at the gods’ feet and began to plot. Some sought to forge a cage for the gods, forgetting that gods are gods. Some sought to create a new world for humanity, forgetting that humans are human. Some sought to tame the gods into becoming human, yearning for gods who stood above the gods. Some sought to elevate humans into gods, yearning for humans who stood above humanity. Some crucified themselves alongside the gods on a cross covered in thorns, crying out that gods must not walk among us, but should hang high upon the thorns, for people to worship and revile.
