In 2047, Earth received a letter from 4.22 light-years away. Its message was simple: a string of prime numbers. From it, humanity built the Chain Network, a global intelligent system capable of verifying everything and preventing every error. Lu Yixian, creator of the Chain Network and “Mother of Truth,” discovered an impossible gap deep within the system. The more perfect the Chain Network became, the larger the gap grew. To pry open the Chain Network, she personally orchestrated a world-shaking “lying experiment.” To expose the truth, she made herself the enemy of the entire world. And to send a reply to the universe, she gathered a group of outcasts the Chain Network had “proven wrong” and restarted a decommissioned radio telescope array that had been abandoned for forty years. They weren't trying to conquer the universe. They only wanted to send a gift, one that could not be verified or proven, a gift about nothing but “belief.”
