A Hundred Lifetimes, A Thousand Years

Every life unfolded by the Book of a Hundred Lives is not a virtual copy or a scripted plot, but a real world. When Li Wuya's soul enters one, he truly lives there, spending an entire lifetime in someone else's body. -This means the people he meets in each life are not NPCs. They have their own causes and consequences, their own fates, and their own next lives. When Li Wuya dies, they keep on living, or they may already be dead. -This is revealed in Volume Four, with only clues planted early on. (Occasional details that feel out of place: a character says something that doesn't fit their identity, or a place name overlaps with the world outside the book.)
