A hundred years ago, the battle between the Mountains and Seas shattered heaven and earth, leaving the mortal realm in ruins. Lin Xiao was never meant to come into this world. Someone borrowed a life from heaven, and in exchange, he was born crying. But he was burdened with a “world-weary body”: he could not attain Buddhahood, speak the Dao, or master martial arts. Even countless treasures could not nourish him enough to make a difference. A monk said, “Your life was borrowed from heaven. You must repay it.” A Daoist said, “Your path is one you must walk yourself. You must attain understanding.” So he drank a jug of wine from the Wine Immortal and built a nine-story tower in his heart, a tower that encompassed all things. But the wine's power could only be gradually unlocked through his experiences across thousands of miles. If his knowledge and actions did not align, the tower's doors would not open. But since he had come into this world, he would make the most of his time here, traveling thousands of miles and ascending the nine-story tower.
