Shen Jin bears an ancient bloodline gifted with the power to read the trigrams, and is also the last surviving member of the Shen family. For generations, his family saw through the falsehoods of Heaven's cycles of fate and recorded the flaws in the Heavenly Way. In doing so, they touched its ultimate secret and were branded by Heaven as a "rebellious strain that must be eradicated." The world believes the Shen family was a heretical clan that betrayed the Way. In truth, they were the only people in the world who saw clearly. Heaven uses the order of the trigrams to lock every living being into their fate: to follow Heaven is righteous, to defy it is evil. Shen Jin alone follows no trigram, bows to no Heaven, cultivates neither the immortal path nor the demonic path.
