Survival at Sea: My Space Can Be Farmed

In 2147 AD, the greenhouse effect caused by human industrial activities broke through the critical point. Huge amounts of methane stored in the Arctic permafrost were released intensively. Global temperatures soared by 12°C in 10 years, and polar glaciers and the Greenland ice sheet completely melted. By 2179, the global sea level will have risen by a cumulative 682 meters, and 95% of the earth's land will be submerged by seawater. Coastal cities, plains, and most mountains will sink to the bottom of the sea, and only a few plateau peaks will emerge from the sea to form scattered islands. This world-ending disaster was called the "Great Melt" by later generations. Human industrial civilization completely collapsed, and the global population plummeted from tens of billions to less than ten million.
