In 1940, Chen Shougen, a young farmer from the south of the Yangtze River, was forcibly captured as a young man after the autumn harvest. Carrying the cloth shoes sewn by his mother, he stepped into the decayed and chaotic old army. Amid artillery fire, rout, hunger and plague, all he wanted was to survive. He fought against the Japanese invaders but was unable to return home; Seeing through the decay of the old era, he resolutely revolted in front of the battle in a desperate situation. From a strong man who couldn't help himself, he transformed into an awakened warrior. Cross the Yalu River and fight in the ice and snow. When the smoke cleared, we returned to the fields.
